I am reading The More Beautiful World Our Hearts Know is Possible by Charles Eisenstein. One of the questions he asks is “What is sacred?”This is a powerful question to ask ourselves. I deciding everything is sacred. By everything, I don’t mean material things, because anything beyond subsistence is unnecessary. Our natural world is dying. We forgot that the things we need most are sacred. Air and water and food and community. What is it about humans that makes us so careless? Is it our birthright to be so destructive? If we take a good look at how we are conducting ourselves, it is pretty much pillage and plunder. Maybe that is why people need to drink so much, hurt others so much, and continue negating the importance of nature. What is sacred to you?
